KSG Selected to Manage AFP-MD

The Association of Fundraising Professionals – Maryland Chapter (AFP-MD) recently selected King Stringfellow Group, Inc. as its professional association management firm. AFP-MD is the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) which includes more than 30,000 members in 213 chapters throughout the world. Its mission is to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. The association fosters development and growth of fundraising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fundraising profession. The AFP-MD Chapter has over 400 members. DETAILS

New KSG Staff

Meet Elizabeth Walters, who joined the KSG staff team in December 2010 to work with the Association of Fundraising Professionals—Maryland Chapter and The Pet Care Trust. Elizabeth is the main liaison for members and maintains databases for these KSG client organizations by handling membership and event data and communications. She is currently attending Harford Community College, pursuing an Associate’s degree in Business, and plans to continue her education at Towson University.

NSGIC Ignites Annual Conference

Recently, National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) sparked a new approach to information delivery by implementing “Ignite” sessions: programs offering four to five presentations at a time, of no more than seven minutes each, usually clustered around related topics. During its 2010 Annual Conference, NSGIC offered multiple Ignite Sessions over the four days, featuring 90 different presenters. DETAILS

SMART Launches Media Relations Campaign for Textile Recycling Awareness

KSG has coordinated the creation and launch of a new press kit on behalf of the Secondary Materials And Recycled Textiles (SMART) Association. This press kit is the result of a three month media counseling program that included media training for SMART staff  

and key board members, to better provide the message of the important role that textile recycling plays in the environment and the economy.

The press kit was unveiled at the SMART 2011 Annual Convention by SMART’s media consultant Rob Weinhold, Jr. of the Fallston Group. The press kit is a vital component of SMART’s overall public relations campaign supporting the goal of increasing awareness of textile recycling and the opportunities it brings for a cleaner environment and stronger economy.

Recently, KSG staff participated in events supporting the case for face-to-face meetings, a significant part of most associations’ membership value propositions. DETAILS

Managing Non-Profit Social Media Risk

Almost universally, non-profit associations are using social media to attract, engage, and retain members, gather and disseminate information, and create content. Individually, organization members are sharing information, providing feedback, obtaining education, networking and advancing their careers. DETAILS

KSG Supports its Local Community

In 2010 the KSG Staff Team pledged to participate in community service events as a team, as a means to support local church and civic organizations in their service to residents in need. During the 2010 holiday season, the KSG Team collected food and household supplies which were donated to local homeless shelters and womens’ shelters as part of our community outreach.

Community service project plans for 2011 include participation in ServeFest, a one-day, hands-on serving event taking place on Saturday, May 14th in various locations in the Baltimore area. ServeFest coordinates dozens of different types of projects including school grounds clean-up, park clean-up, home and facility repairs, and volunteering at facilities assisting disabled individuals and seniors.

Stringfellow Elected to AMC Institute Board, Chairs Task Force

Fred Stringfellow, CAE, Co-CEO of KSG was elected to the AMC Institute Board of Directors at its recent Annual Meeting at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT. Stringfellow was also appointed Chairman of AMC Institute’s Content and Delivery Task Force for the coming year.

The AMC Institute is a trade association representing the association management industry and includes more than 170 AMC members throughout the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. AMC Institute promotes service excellence among association management companies, and strives to raise awareness of a burgeoning AMC Industry by establishing its member companies as the recognized and preferred choice for quality association management and professional services. 

King Advances to Chair of Small Business Legislative Council

Steve King, CAE, Co-CEO of KSG, and President of the Pet Industry Distributors Association, began his term as Chair of SBLC in February 2011. King served as Chair-Elect of SBLC for the past year, and has held several leadership positions as a Board member.

The Small Business Legislative Council is a permanent, independent coalition of over 50 trade and professional associations that share a common commitment to the future of small business; its members represent the interests of small businesses in such diverse economic sectors as manufacturing, retailing, distribution, professional and technical services, construction, transportation, and agriculture.
